Your site style is the face of your business. It will be the way your customers and clients “perceive” you and your business.

A style will consist of a header graphic, a footer, may or may not be a graphic, a background and navigation bars or buttons.

Think out your style carefully. While using NetObjects, PHP templating, WP or Joomla platforms, it is easy to change the style of your site it is wise to choose the style and maintain it.

How do you choose a site style?

  1. First of all think about color. If your business already has established logo colors, you would do well to maintain those colors on your web site.
  2. Colors have meaning that speak to people without saying a word. If you don’t already have a logo, then one should be created for you.
  3. In this site, I have styles posted first by color. The next choice as you look at the color is your button style.
  4. The final choice is the background.
  5. Once these decisions are made customizations for you and your business can be accomplished

 Color choices

This grid is just a sampling of colors one can use on his site.

it never ceases to amaze me how with just three colors, red, blue and yellow plus black and white there are over 256 million colors available.

Color in HTML is represented by a six character code as you see in the chart.

Red ~ Blue ~ Yellow ~ Green ~ Pink ~ Navy ~ Orange ~ Purple

When it comes to color, I have a rule of thumb. It is gallon - the color that represents the site. quart - the secondary color and pint - Accent color. If you maintain this rule your site will be aesthetic and pleasing to the eyes. Too many colors and a site becomes too busy.
